[07:16:41] juliotelan: Good day, I am using rails 5.1 + webpack. I was wondering how can I host the javascript script for production use like what the WebpackDevServer does it?
[07:17:11] juliotelan: Or is it possible?
[07:17:49] apparition: has joined #RubyOnRails
[07:20:52] dminuoso: juliotelan: Say what?
[07:21:09] dminuoso: juliotelan: First, are you using actual webpack, or this quirky-as-fuck webpacker?
[07:21:17] jhfisc: has joined #RubyOnRails
[07:21:37] juliotelan: I am using the default webpacker from Rails 5.1
[07:22:13] dminuoso: juliotelan: For production you don't use the webpack dev server.
[07:22:32] dminuoso: juliotelan: For production you just use the webpacker:compile task to precompile the assets.
[07:22:48] dminuoso: juliotelan: The javascript_pack_tag and stylesheet_pack_tag will automatically do the rest of the magic.
[07:23:10] dminuoso: Then you need to handle serving the JavaScript either yourself or configure rails to serve assets.
[07:24:03] juliotelan: dminuoso: What I want was to compile the assets and then serve it as a stand alone script which I can load in another project
[07:25:42] dminuoso: juliotelan: You'll have the slight issue of fingerprinting. If you want something custom like that, you need to hand tweak webpack.
[07:27:11] jhfisc: has joined #RubyOnRails
[07:27:15] dminuoso: juliotelan: Though.. you might not need that. Just run the webpacker:compile, and you end up with a javascript/css file that you can just use in that other project.
[07:32:01] juliotelan: dminuoso: So... I just host the script file in another instance? I want it to be public but I should host it in my AWS server. Do you have any leads on what open sourced project that is best to use for hosting a javascript file?

[13:01:30] glasz_: i'm having a hard time with ActionDispatch::IntegrationTest as i'm trying to configure optional default headers to be send during tests
[13:01:35] ar1a: salutations
[13:02:14] glasz_: for example, my api controller tests should always send basic auth headers and spare me from having to define headers with every get/post/put/patch/delete call
[13:02:22] jhfisc: has joined #RubyOnRails
[13:02:59] glasz_: so i am trying to hack my way into AD::Integration::Session, override #process, and do these things there.
[13:03:47] glasz_: but sth like ActionDispatch::Integration::Session.send(:include, DefaultHeaders) does not seem to work. DefaultHeaders#process is not picked up.

[13:21:19] dminuoso: ar1a: It turns the function into an object where if you invoke it with less than arity (defaulting to the original functions arity) arguments, it just returns a partially applied function instead.
[13:21:40] dminuoso: Basically instead of f(1,2,3) you can do f[1][2][3]
[13:22:06] dminuoso: Which is handy, because you can just stop along the way (and do partial application that way). There's lots of other uses that are extremely useful with Enumerable
[13:22:23] tbuehlmann: you could also just define authorized_get(...) or authorized(:get, ...), right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[18:39:57] squiffs: The difficulty I'm having seems to be because I assume asset pipeline files are public by default?
