[00:14:08] cagomez: I'm shelling out and running a rails server like so: `rails s`. is there I way I can drop into that shell so I can hit binding.pry statements?
[00:51:54] timdotrb: I'm having some strange behavior happening with will_paginate. I'm using it with an array of data, and when I display the nav links, it's showing all of the pages - not just the current one + 4 around current. I've tried specifying inner_window: 4 to no avail.
[02:56:37] mroutis: cardoni: sorry; hehe, I was trying to message `cagomez` but he's not online (tab completion error)
[07:18:29] timdotrb: I upgraded Ubuntu on our web server, and now the Rails caching isn’t working. In the logs, I see: Cache fetch_hit: foo, Cache read: foo but the view is taking quite a bit of time to load, it’s definitely not reading from the cache
[10:27:01] DaniG2k: hello all. I'm trying to write an RSpec/Capybara test that checks a redirect when a user visits a page
[10:27:14] DaniG2k: however, the page is external to my app so I don't actually want the test to go there
[10:28:04] DaniG2k: so I have something like visit '/some/path' and I'm trying to expect a redirect to an external website.
[11:41:29] fox_mulder_cp: DaniG2k some like this? expect(:post => "/api/users").to route_to("users#create")
[11:41:57] nme13: when I test the final datetime on 2018-03-08 12:00 it says that 2018-03-08 12:01 is in the future, OK / but on 2018-03-08 12:04 it always says that 2018-03-08 12:00 is in the future
[11:50:13] DaniG2k: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49171142/rspec-capybara-redirect-to-external-page-sends-me-back-to-root-path
[13:33:33] DaniG2k: hello all. I'm trying to write a Helper spec. However, my locales aren't being passed in
[15:05:03] mrbubbles: I've been reading around that STI is evil... is this really the case? My models are all *pretty* similar but with a few unique fields each. 16 models, there would be 37 unique columns in total if I use STI
[15:21:19] za1b1tsu: Anyone using Resque? I need resque to start a job to see how multiple args are sent to the job, anyway I can do this?
[17:03:45] cagomez: anyone know how to print the list of middleware being used by an app during runtime?
[19:37:55] conceivably: Hello. I have a bunch of services some of which need to format strings in a certain way. It feels a bit clunky to have the different formats in the services themselves, as for newcomers to the project it might not be clear where they can change these formats. Thus I'd like to somehow extract the formatting methods. Is there a canonical way / pattern to do this? Obviously, I could just make a module for them, but I was just wonderi
[21:59:36] Jon30: hey guys, i extended a controller with class_eval, within the controller I have MessageMailer which works fine, but in class_eval I am getting: *** NoMethodError Exception: undefined method `MessageMailer' for #<ActionDispatch::Routing::RoutesProxy:0
[22:02:14] Jon30: hmm I had to use a name space, I was extending a controller from an engine, but the extended class was already wrapped in a namespace(Frame::MessagesController.class_eval), so i don't know why I still had to add Frame:: infront of MessageMailer...
[22:20:55] Jon30: regarding my old problem, i am still stuck.. for some reason Frame::MessageMailer.message_email only accepts one argument within the extended class, but 2 arguments if I call it directly from the engine
[22:38:40] glassresistor: im having a bit of trouble with validates_associated. we are using it with a custom validator
