[07:14:00] halogenandtoast: I'll post my question just in case you do come back. Customers using rails 5.1.6 are having dirty query cache issues.
[07:14:08] halogenandtoast: There was https://github.com/rails/rails/pull/26909 which seems to have been merged into 5.2.0
[07:15:24] halogenandtoast: But I don't know if 5.1.6 is still affected and if it is, should that be backported?
[09:42:39] yottanami: I am trying to create a cron job using whenever gem it creates this job /bin/bash -l -c 'cd /var/www/pabetoop && RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake board:update --silent
[09:42:57] yottanami: But the problem is I got this error Bundler::GemNotFound: Could not find rake-12.3.1 in any of the sources
[12:42:49] sevenseacat: samosaphile: there's no space between the method name and the parens in ruby.
[12:55:03] samosaphile: thx:) , altho getting new errors now, atleast it fixed my rake errors...was getting a heartattack lol... completed like 110/282 of koans stuff and then suddenly rake broke.. never before happened. so was surprise...
[14:00:38] dionysus69: what are conventional methods of securing communication between app and redis/db servers? VPN ?
[14:15:32] fryguy: most db servers support some level of TLS connectivity as well. ipsec as a transport might be viable as well
[18:33:31] mices: i tried pasting a whole locale file into google translate but things get all messed up cause when i copy the text back, all the colons and quotation marks returned are formatted as utf8 weird characters by google translate and the files don't work, anyone else tried doing this and found a better way
[19:00:56] amperry: hi folks, anyone familiar with using MySQL/mariaDB views as the basis of an ActiveRecord model?
[21:11:11] cjohnson: Does the module declared in config/application.rb automatically get used somehow? Or do the calls to Rails.application need to be replaced with OurApplication ?
[21:18:58] cjohnson: In a rails 3 -> 4 upgrade we have various calls to OurApplication where the upgrade script seemed to replace those calls with Rails.application
[21:19:11] cjohnson: Just want to make sure Rails.application refers to our specific applciation config and not the default one
[22:31:42] drale2k_: i have a Computer object and now i want to add drives either a nested model or jsonb
[22:32:14] drale2k_: how can i go about picking the right thing? The main downside for me with using jsonb is validation
[22:43:07] inradius: I'm creating a Rails3.1 form, with a drop-down menu and an "Other" option. A new textfield box for Other pops up when "Other" is selected (using JQuery). Is there any way to make the "Other" textbox required when "Other" is selected in the drop-down?
