[13:48:48] bonhoffer: i'm getting a csrf problem and I'm tweaking lots of things to get it working, but i have to spin up rails s each time and then do 3 clicks

[16:05:52] fryguy: Pupeno: what does `rake routes` show you the name of that route is?
[16:08:05] Pupeno: fryguy: as far as I see, no name: GET /java_modules/:group_id/:artifact_id/:version(.:format) java_modules#show
[16:10:57] fryguy: does `url_for(controller: :java_modules, action: show)` or similar do what you want?
[16:12:15] Pupeno: How do I pass each of the items, group_id, artifact_id and version?
[16:12:17] tdy: has joined #RubyOnRails
[16:12:28] Pupeno: just keyword arguments for url_for?
[16:14:13] Pupeno: Ah... yeah, that seems to work. Thank you fryguy.

[16:41:00] alfiemax: has joined #RubyOnRails
[16:41:09] alfiemax: i just had a questions
[16:41:22] alfiemax: is it possible to trigger a after_create callback manually?
[16:41:55] mroutis: just call the method you are running ni an after create, alfiemax
[16:42:07] alfiemax: yea.. that's one way to do it...
[16:42:19] alfiemax: but there are like 8-9 methods that's listed in after_create
[16:42:39] mroutis: you can abstract them in a single method
[16:43:01] mroutis: `def after_create_callbacks; method1; method2; ... ; end`
[16:43:10] mroutis: and you call the `after_create_callbacks`, alfiemax
[16:43:26] alfiemax: no other way?
[16:43:52] mroutis: I guess there's no "convention" around triggering callbacks manualy
[16:44:10] mroutis: I'm afraid developers doesn't love callbacks that much
[16:44:49] mroutis: so they try to avoid having a bunch of implicit side effects when creating an object, for example
[16:45:40] mroutis: also, having a "fake_creation_to_run_callbacks" method is not appealing :p
[16:46:47] mroutis: there was something named "service objects" or whatever; basically, they encapsulate a lot of methods inside a class, exposing a single "callable" method
[16:47:39] mroutis: `class NotifyUser; def self.call; logic; end`
[16:47:49] alfiemax: i've read all about why developers are against callbacks
[16:47:56] alfiemax: but yet.. it's still a feature in rails
[16:48:10] mroutis: and you can have a `User; after_create: NotifyUser.call; ...` or something like that
[16:48:12] alfiemax: btw.. i did find a way to trigger the callback
[16:48:24] alfiemax: @object.run_callbacks :create
[16:48:44] mroutis: yep, that could work, alfiemax
[16:50:14] mroutis: it's all about how do you or your team prefer to organize the code to stay productive
[16:50:57] mroutis: it's still a feature in rails because it's "opinionated"
[16:53:11] mroutis: maybe a couple of developers dislike callbacks, but they are not the ones driving the development of the framework
