[10:41:26] jammanbo: Is there some kind of rack config I can use to hook into the start of a request in the Rails development server (Thin in my case)? My life would be perfect if I could use it to clear my terminal at the start of each request.
[12:55:43] ule: What's the best way to track something wrong if you have a chain of callbacks over multiple models?
[14:42:35] s2013: hey anyone here uses heroku? i havent used heroku in ages but i set up an app on it on the $25/mo server.. for some reason ssl isnt working.. when i use curl -kvI it says ssl certificate ok
[14:46:35] ule: Sometimes, wildcard certificate, sometimes one extra entry when you generate the whole thing
[14:47:49] ule: I'm not sure about Heroku though. Are you using something provided by them or you create your own certificate?
[16:31:47] pankaj: Well, I am using postres in my rails project but I want to use my local database cluster (managed by normal user on my system and not postgres). So, I how do I specify data directory in database.yml file?
[16:57:29] Stabby: Hello, I am trying to forward some data between controller actions. Is it bad practice to modify the params hash on redirect_to?
[17:00:54] apeiros: Stabby: since after a redirect_to, you usually leave the controller and it's a new request, I don't think it'll matter. but in general it's better practice to extract the data you want from params and have your separate structure to process it.
[17:02:29] Stabby: I see. How do I do that? I have tried to write to the params before the redirect_to, and they always arrive empty except for the request parameters.
[17:04:53] apeiros: Stabby: just like with a hash? how did you do it then? sounded to me like you already knew how…
[17:05:57] Stabby: I tried to write to the params using params[:message] = 'message', but then after the redirect, I tried doing @message = params[:message], and it was always nil.
[17:07:23] Stabby: So right now I'm doing redirect_to(message: 'message'), but I'm certain this is the wrong way to do it.
[17:10:15] apeiros: you should probably read http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionController/Redirecting.html#method-i-redirect_to
[17:21:25] apeiros: Stabby: good idea ;-) feel free to ask follow up questions if you still struggle after reading it.
[18:16:14] pankaj: I am getting this error in firefox: 'The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of the firefox file is in use by another application.' What should I do to resolve. I googled but no solution worked also they were not well defined.
[20:35:00] garyserj: Like I do rails c and Abc.create a few times to create some records. Then I do git add -A, and git status -s, and I don't see anything listed. It doesn't show any files having changed.
[21:39:35] vipaca: Hi all I am experience this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/50181725/using-hashed-assets-with-cdns-on-a-rails-rolling-deployment
[21:39:57] vipaca: Does anyone have experience dealing with this issue in weback or even asset pipeline?
[21:40:38] vipaca: Its basically and issue of asset naming in multiple server environment during rolling deploy.
