[00:02:03] Radar: gavit: how right was I?
[00:02:55] gavit: @Radar well, I have several singular things, but I can't even load the page anymore now that I changed it. ActionController::UnknownFormat in OrganizationsController#index
[00:03:35] gavit: @Radar going to assume you're right and see what's wrong
[00:03:42] Radar: gavit: it's the best course of action.
[00:03:45] gavit: it looks correct in comparison to a template
[00:06:11] gavit: seems I had a singular view as well

[03:21:56] sevenseacat: you make a new view for the welcome controller to render instead of the default

[06:00:15] hnanon: I have a nested form. My subscriptions controller has @subscription.notifications.build
[06:00:35] hnanon: There will only be two notifications.
[06:00:55] hnanon: The first will be for calls. The second will be for emails.
[06:01:32] hnanon: It's working fine, as is. However, I want to add a short description of for each notification field.
[06:01:41] hnanon: How can I do that?
[06:02:14] hnanon: When I add both nested fields manually, I get duplicate fields.
[06:05:33] Bin4ry: has joined #RubyOnRails
[06:07:36] hnanon: When I try the following, the second field value (email) overwrites the first (phone number):
[06:07:37] hnanon: https://dpaste.de/wvOM
[06:08:08] hnanon: In that case, both fields' name value is subscription[notifications_attributes][0][value]

[08:17:49] dionysus69: I am little confused about the migration/schema flow when I am migrating to different platform
[08:18:31] dionysus69: so I have a schema that has changed allot on staging, and I will be restoring production database on new platform without past n migrations
[08:18:38] dionysus69: so there will be schema mismatch
[08:20:01] dionysus69: so I wonder, do I `HAVE TO` run migrations on old production db and then make a backup, or can I rerun certain migrations on imported db?
[08:25:06] tbuehlmann: what does your staging database has to do with production?
[08:36:54] jenrzzz: has joined #RubyOnRails
[08:39:54] dionysus69: ok so if I copy over my production db and run migrations, it will pick up from the right place right? since pg keeps track of which are the last ran migrations, the state of schema doesn't matter at the point correct, unless I am loading db from schema?
[08:44:48] tbuehlmann: just create the new database and load the old one using psql
[08:46:02] dionysus69: kk I ll just go and test it first I guess :)

[16:28:53] ule: You can just setup the network on your VM on a way that it gets an valid ip address. This way you can just call your VM directly
[16:30:36] Ookma-Kyi: but how do i make foo.com point to my rails app?
[16:32:13] tubbo: Ookma-Kyi: yes, you're on the right track. a reverse proxy from apache or nginx is what you should have serving your rails application from :80 / :443 (and thus, your domain)
[16:32:34] tubbo: Ookma-Kyi: here are some tutorials for various flavors of Linux that you might be using... https://www.linode.com/docs/development/ror/
