[03:42:54] IGnorAND: nevermind, seems to be related to vue-resource

[08:55:48] hnanon: I have a question about how fast records get created in a db...
[08:56:11] hnanon: For example, I'm using the Twilio API to create call records...
[08:56:24] hnanon: When a call is answered, a Call record is created.
[08:56:48] hnanon: After the call, Twilio posts to a callback URL with a link of the call recording...

[08:57:19] hnanon: I want to update the call record with that URL.
[08:57:40] hnanon: Can I be sure that the call record will be created in time to find it for the update?

[09:22:13] jeromelanteri: i use devise with rails-5, i created a route devise_for users ... i do precompil assets for js and css files (included users and users/session, etc...) but my users.sass files stylesheet doesn't show up. Any idea what can happening ? (tell me if you would like more informations, i feel myself loose to understand why styleshhet not appears and where to search for fix this).
[09:31:26] jeromelanteri: ok, i just find that i had a file users.sass inside app/assets/javascript (i don't know why) who overlaped the normal way to import stylesheet files)

[13:25:56] catphish: i have a rails process that i'd like to fork to run tasks, is there any way to avoid needing to close database conneections prior to forking? i assume not, but i can see it being a bit messy having to shut down the database connections and reconnect for every fork :( thought i'd ask if there is any standard solution to this
[13:26:52] catphish: it seems to me that one can't reliably close the connection post-fork without risking interruption to the connection in the parent

[19:11:58] nickjj: catphish, that is the situation i'm running into now
[19:12:08] nickjj: there doesn't seem to be a sane way to use it with a CI service
[19:12:20] nickjj: not when your assets are being built into a docker image at least
[19:13:33] nickjj: i mean i guess you could use build args to get it in, but it involves your CI service knowing your secret key -- which now means your CI service has access to your stripe keys and other sensitive data
[19:15:25] catphish: nickjj: yeah i don't remember the details, but i recall it related to the interaction between development, test, and production environments
[19:16:07] nickjj: using it in dev with docker also seems like a lame user experience, since you would need to exec into the container and edit your values there (using nano or whatever you decide to install)
[19:17:16] nickjj: was able to google the assets issue tho, you can set a dummy SECRET_KEY_BASE to get the assets to compile without needing your master key -- but still, the dev experience in docker isn't friendly

[22:49:44] rhubarb: Good evening and happy new year :) I have a newbie question, regarding the default form_with generated by a scaffold. I want to have a :deadline datetime property that cannot be set before "today". I'd like to combine a day selected with form.date_field (which can have minimums, unlike datetime_select and date_select) with a time selected with form.time_select, but I don't know how to send that to :deadline.
[22:55:35] orbyt_: has joined #RubyOnRails
[22:55:46] rhubarb: I'm not sure about the best way to approach this. E.g. replace it with a different datetime picker (but then how do I get it submitted with everything else)? Submit seperate :deadline_day and :deadline_hour properties to the controller, and somehow have the controller combine them to save a new property? Some way of saving this stuff in two intermediary variables in the view, and submitting that to :deadline?
[22:56:06] rhubarb: Sorry if this is silly, I'm new to MVC in general
