[11:43:09] jammanbo: I've a large set of tables to drop. There's basically no chance of ever wanting to reverse this migration, but it's nice to make things reversible all the same. I'm thinking that instead of this migration containing a huge down section which recreates all these tables, I could define the up and downs in terms of the existing migrations. So the up calls the down on the existing migrations C, B, and A, and the down calls the up o
[11:45:19] jammanbo: Yeh, it is tempting, but you know it's nice to be able to go back, even if only for development purposes.
[11:47:59] dionysus70: so if I am upgrading to rails I need to remove mini_magick and add image_processing gem?
[11:59:25] dionysus70: also I notice yarn is also being removed from rails 6 in favor of webpacker, so lets say I had package called alertifyjs in application.js how would I import it require("@alertifyjs").start() ? and it would download by itself or what fetches the js modules now
[12:16:41] dionysus70: yea just going over all files one by one http://railsdiff.org/5.2.2/6.0.0.beta1
[12:42:51] dionysus70: I get Single arity template handlers are deprecated warning on bundler http://paste.debian.net/1071021/
[12:59:10] dionysus70: I got only this as a relevant result https://github.com/rails/jbuilder/issues/452
[12:59:30] dionysus70: but this applies to jbuilder specifically, my warning seems more general and I dont know where it comes from
[14:48:27] beingjohnm: how do you escape special characters in an email address using mailer. e.g. the from name has paranthesis in it so the from string might be "Test(s) <firstname.lastname@example.org>"
[19:50:47] cristof: Hello guys! Im so excited to be here! I have a question, probably trivial for many, but I am not so experienced with the Omniauth topic. We are building an server-client application, the server side is of course in RoR, and the first client will be in iOS. In the server side there is also a web interface (so not just an API) that allows to the Admins to log-in using omniauth-facebook. In the mobile app we want to do the same, the questi
[19:50:47] cristof: on is about the communication between both sides, as in the server we want to be sure that the requests are coming from a valid client of course. But as we do not have user/password, what is the best way to manage the 'token' between client and server? I have worked with JWT but I have generated after successfully login/password old-fashion-way, but it is not clear for me how to handle this scenario with omniauth. I would really appreci
[20:16:20] dionysus70: it has nothing to do with oauth though, not sure what you want with that. It is just for token based authentication which we use in production
