[06:49:17] bzb: I want to import an existing database so I can use ActiveRecord to work with it... this is what I've done so far... http://pastie.org/6377517
[06:51:39] bzb: rvanlieshout: how do you create the necessary model for each table?...is there a simple way other than manually creating it
[06:52:18] bzb: rvanlieshout: no. this database was never used with rails before
[06:52:42] bzb: rvanlieshout: there are > 800 tables in database...is there an automated way to do so?
[06:53:31] bzb: rvanlieshout: i would like to use the convience offered by ActiveModel...that's why I'd like to create a model for each table
[06:54:50] bzb: rvanlieshout: i don't know if you last statement was meant for me?
[06:58:15] bzb: Is there a way to automate the creation of models for each table in a database?
[06:59:55] bzb: rvanlieshout: does it also help me to create associations between tables?
[07:01:30] bzb: rvanlieshout: ok. thanks

[23:52:39] bzb: sarmiena_: i've installed the gem for execjs, therubyracer. Went into my project and did a "$ bundle install", "$ bundle update". still showing me the same problem
[23:52:52] bzb: do i need to update my GemFile or something?
[23:53:48] bzb: sarmiena_: i used "$ gem install execjs", "$ gem install therubyracer"
[23:54:47] bzb: sarmiena_: node.js is already install on my system
[23:55:03] bzb: sarmiena_: i'll make the suggested changes in my GemFile
[23:58:26] bzb: sarmiena_: i modified Gemfile by enabling "gem 'therubyracer', :platforms => :ruby"...now it works. thanks

[21:53:25] bzb: i'm currently using jruby-1.7.0.preview2 with mysql...I'm following example in UsingJRuby book...$ jruby -S rake db:create:all to create the database in mysql.
[21:53:39] bzb: but i always get rake aborted!\nThe driver encountered an unknown error: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
[21:53:46] bzb: but the database is properly created in mysql
[21:54:04] bzb: is this a bug or is there really a problem?
[21:55:07] bzb: the mysql i'm using is...mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.24, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 6.2
[22:03:56] bzb: rhizmoe: is it suppose to give this message then?
[22:04:07] bzb: rhizmoe: does that mean i can ignore it?
[22:50:30] bzb: rhizmoe: my mysql server is password protected (ie root does have a password). If rails was not able to login, it would not have been able to create the database to start with. This doesn't make sense.
[22:57:19] bzb: rhizmoe: ok. i found out what theproblem is. I only provided the root password for the development database and not for production and test. This is where the login failure came from.. Problem Solved. Thanks.
