I maintain a OS package for a rails application, but I am not a rails developer myself, i.e., I am fairly ignorant when it comes to rails, so please be gentle. One challenge is that asset:precompile is not reproducible (e.g., https://github.com/rails/sprockets/blob/09f44cb0334ba94afbf0c3c385933e38f62bcd82/lib/sprockets/manifest_utils.rb#L23). Is there a way to run assets:precompile reproducibly?
When I run rake secret, for a ruby application (mastodon), it complains about not finding a library, libcld3.so, which is in /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/2.3/gems/cld3-3.1.2/lib/libcld3.so. Here are the details: http://ftfl.ca/paste/mastodon_rake_secret.html
The Rakefile contains: http://ftfl.ca/paste/mastodon_rakefile.html
Newbie questions: Is https://ruby.github.io/openssl/ part of ruby itself or is it a separate gem that needs to be installed? If it is part of ruby, why does the ostatu2 gem list it as a runtime dependency?
