[03:04:36] zacts: which ruby implementation would be best to implement a simple vi-like editor clone?
[03:04:46] zacts: I'm thinking is there a ruby that can compile to a binary?
[03:04:56] zacts: or that is self sufficient
[03:05:09] zacts: I'm wondering about say rubinius
[03:05:20] zacts: and congrats on the 2.3.0 release today
[03:05:25] zacts: for the definitive ruby
[03:05:39] zacts: jruby is not what I want to use
[03:06:04] zacts: so my tools would be ruby-definitive or rubinius, of those two I wonder which would meet the above requirements...
[03:08:21] shevy: zacts for MRI there is ugly ncurses
[03:08:38] shevy: zacts for jruby one guy came quite a bit along with redcar, perhaps you can simply add vi-like keybindings to it
[03:09:05] shevy: here is the old redcar code https://github.com/danlucraft/redcar2
[03:09:24] ElFerna: has joined #ruby
[03:09:47] shevy: the people on #rubinius should know best but whatever you'd go there, a vi-like editor would have to work on the commandline so you end up digging into C anyway
[03:09:59] zacts: the only thing I'm concerned about with jruby is startup times
[03:10:56] shevy: enter ncurses!

[06:00:18] junn: why is it hard to learn programming at a late age?
[06:01:49] Feyn: drys, that seems to be a different problem
[06:02:03] Feyn: But to get the database on heroku, just run: heroku run rake db:migrate
[06:02:07] Feyn: (assuming you have the toolbelt)
[06:02:08] drys: @feyn you are right but the it works well on the development enviroment but wont on heroku production enviroment
[06:02:38] drys: yaeh i to..heroku toolbelt is install and works well
[06:03:30] Feyn: as for your other problem, try asking in #rubyonrails

That being said some races are more intelligent on average than others, this is obvious and only people who don't understand statistics and/or are afraid of reprisal at work deny it. So it's not the skin color that causes it, it just so happens to be a trait highly correlated with lower/higher IQ depending.

[10:21:18] yorickpeterse: headius: I am now
[10:21:42] headius: I'm filing a bug for this, but confirm for me there's no "double" defined anywhere in mspec: https://github.com/rubinius/mspec/commit/fa4704ebfdc3c0db27624faa87b64a9c0c7dbb58#diff-604e82c2a3128ae9cb5d94840aa7270eR3
[10:23:30] yorickpeterse: IIRC mspec specs run via rspec, which defines "double"
[10:23:49] yorickpeterse: it's defined somewhere in rspec-mocks I believe
[10:23:51] headius: yes, and this is a line in mspec itself
[10:23:59] karapetyan: has joined #ruby
[10:24:00] headius: so mspec can't run without rspec-mocks as a result
[10:24:17] headius: it passes only because the specs load rspec
[10:24:21] yorickpeterse: Yeah, I think that should be using mock() then
[10:24:54] headius: https://github.com/rubinius/mspec/issues/1
[10:25:11] headius: I guess you folks aren't using released mspec for rbx either
[10:25:32] yorickpeterse: I've been using it for rubysl-socket, could be I haven't run into it just yet
[10:25:53] yorickpeterse: lemme see if I can fix this now
[10:26:12] headius: it may be as simple as aliasing mock to double but I wasn't sure
[10:26:22] headius: it is a strange chance to do without actually adding a double method
[10:27:08] headius: rbx's vendored copy appears to be from before this change
[10:27:12] headius: it still uses mock
[10:27:42] headius: I was hoping to use the released gem to run rubyspec in JRuby rather than vendoring a copy
[10:27:59] vasilakisFiL: has joined #ruby
[10:29:07] yorickpeterse: I think this was just a find-replace mistake
[10:29:41] headius: ah, so it was intended to only affect the specs for mspec, not mspec itself
[10:30:08] headius: and since rbx wasn't actually using the gem and you aren't using this helper, it didn't show up
[10:31:07] headius: yorickpeterse: are you able to spin a gem?
[10:31:13] yorickpeterse: Doing that now
