[02:49:46] enko: I would love to hear what some peoples first Ruby apps they made were. Other than the obvious Hello World
[08:27:36] Nobun: assuming I have to call a "myfunction" with parameters in a "data/eev.rb" file... how should I suppose to use rb_funcall ?
[08:29:18] Nobun: is the "myfunctionn" function (on eev.rb) the method id? is the "data/eev.rb" the receiver?
[09:27:38] xco: if this can be dried up, i need a hero to help me with it https://gist.github.com/xcobar/cb359e09b5f2aa6e066878b5569f1528
[10:11:23] Mon_Ouie: You're just calling 1, which returns 1, then calling Integer# on that, which returns 1 again, and so on
[15:44:06] enko: I would love to hear what some peoples first Ruby apps they made were. Other than the obvious Hello World
[15:45:37] havenwood: enko: I made a palindrome finder. There are lots of good challenges. Maybe try one from http://exercism.io.
[15:49:59] enko: i dont think so, just interested to know what peoples paths were when they first started with ruby i guess
[15:50:23] enko: i am trying to teach it to myself and then move on to rails (never done any web development, only windows development)
[15:50:44] lupine: I read _why's poignant guide before going and showed off some C++ code. Got the job
[15:51:15] tamouse__: exercism.io is a great place for practice projects; also brian hogan's _exercises for programmers_ is a good source
[15:51:20] enko: lupine, I wish it was for an interview, that would mean potentially i might be making some more money soon :x
[16:53:42] xevious: I'm working on a feature for gitlab-ce: their instructions say to install their approved version of Ruby using whatever version manager I prefer. Since I rarely write Ruby, I haven't had to deal with multiple Ruby versions yet. I'm on a Mac running Sierra and I use homebrew. What method (rvm, rbenv, chruby, etc.) is currently favored by the community?
[16:57:24] xevious: I see that gorails.com uses rbenv in this tutorial... https://gorails.com/setup/osx/10.12-sierra
[20:15:05] bonhoeffer: restarted for an upgrade -- on reboot i get the sound, but nothing on the monitor
